We know what it feels like to stand beside a child's bed at night wondering whether we're overreacting, or missing something. We also know which questions help reveal the important details. PediCheck brings those two perspectives together in one calm, structured guide.

Built in Cape Town. PediCheck Pty Ltd is its own company. We work with the paediatricians at Atlantic Children's Practice.

  • Fever & head bump: NICE and WHO fever guidance; the head bump pathway follows the PECARN paediatric head injury rule (Kuppermann et al., 2009) and NICE guideline NG232.
  • Cough & breathing: WHO Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) algorithm, the same protocol used in South African primary health care clinics.
  • Tummy pain: red-flag patterns used across paediatric surgical pathways, plus the Paediatric Appendicitis Score (Samuel, 2002). Pending final paediatric surgical sign-off ahead of launch.

Questions parents ask us.

Does PediCheck diagnose my child?
No. PediCheck checks the information you enter against recognised paediatric warning-sign guidance and suggests a next step. It cannot examine your child or provide a diagnosis.
Is PediCheck for emergencies?
No. If your child is very unwell, do not wait for a PediCheck or WhatsApp response. Call 112 or 10177, or go to your nearest emergency department.
Which health concerns are included?
Starting with fever, breathing concerns, tummy pain, head injuries and paediatric dosing, and this is only the beginning. More pathways are planned as they are developed and reviewed, guided by parent feedback.
Which medicines are included?
The dosing calculator starts with the most commonly used paediatric medicines, like Panado (paracetamol). More medicines are planned as pathways are reviewed and added.
Can I use it for more than one child?
The Founding Family plan is planned to support up to four child profiles.
Does it replace my paediatrician?
No. PediCheck is a guide, not a substitute for professional assessment. Always confirm decisions and dosing against your child’s healthcare professional and the medicine packaging.
How are the pathways developed and reviewed?
Pathways are written by paediatricians and reviewed against recognised paediatric guidance. PediCheck Pty Ltd is its own company; we work with the paediatricians at Atlantic Children’s Practice. Named reviewers and source lists will be published on this site before launch.
What happens to the information I enter?
On the waitlist we collect your name, email, WhatsApp number, and your child’s age range — not a medical record. We use it to save your spot and send the launch updates you agreed to. We do not sell it. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and POPIA Policy.
How does the after-hours paediatric consultation work?
It’s an optional add-on: a formal virtual consultation with an on-duty paediatrician, which may include WhatsApp messaging, photographs, and a voice or video call. R650 for members, R850 for non-members, during published service hours and subject to clinician capacity. It is not for emergencies — if your child is severely unwell, do not wait for a response.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancel in your parent account, or write to us. Further charges stop when we process it. Unused days in the current month or year are not refunded as a rule, except a seven-day cooling-off on your first paid charge, a charge we took in error, or anything the law requires.
